Ryan Goodin- Mentee of Dale Ray smith-Son of Officer Matt Goodin

My name is Ryan Goodin and I am writing to tell you how Dale Ray and his wife, Cheryl, helped change who I am. When I first came to Dale Ray and Cheryl in mid February, I was a different person. I was rude and disrespectful to my mom. I would call her names and curse at her, then I would lie about it when people tried to talk to me. Dale Ray and Cheryl helped me own up to my past, be humble, wait my turn to speak and not to lie. When I first came to Dale Ray and Cheryl, I was rude, disrespectful, and defiant. I’m learning to change the way I behave and to become a better man. I would not be able to make any progress without Dale Ray and Cheryl.

joshua dawson- friend of dale ray smith

I am writing in regards to a good friend and father figure to me, Mr. Dale Ray Smith.  I must admit that very few compare when it comes to being passionate about transforming lives for the better.  Whether it’s addiction, self-worth issues, anger, depression, abandonment issues, etc. Dale Ray has always been committed to walking alongside whomever may accept his guidance and support.  He is a champion in the community and a blessing in every way to those who have had the privilege to meet him. Therefore, I believe that whatever this man has his hands on will prosper and will create true lasting change in the lives of others.

Greg mceachern- captain san francisco police department

My name is Greg McEachern and I am a Captain in the San Francisco Police Department for over twenty three years.  During my tenure I have had the opportunity to meet many people within the community and in law enforcement who have had a significant impact towards the betterment of themselves and community. One such individual is Dale Ray Smith.  Dale was able to pull himself out of a life of despair and make a difference for himself and those around him.  Dale has been drug free, crime free and has found love and life which now guides him daily.  Moreover, Dale has taken his new lease on life and helped others with his motivational speeches and mentoring as a “real life” example of talking the talk and walking the walk of success.  It is because of what Dale Ray has done for himself and what Dale Ray continues to do for others that I give you my highest recommendation.  Should you have a need for a motivational speaker or mentor you should feel supremely secure in choosing Dale Ray to represent you and help you help others.

Dr. Don savell- Lieutenant Harris county sheriff’s office

I had the pleasure of meeting Dale Ray when he became a volunteer for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office jail chaplaincy and re-entry program.  I have had the opportunity to observe Dale Ray, both formally and informally in the community.  Dale Ray proved to be a tremendous asset to the community as well as a mentor and instructor.  While performing as a conscientious volunteer he also mentored offenders in our custody and went out of his way to assist where he could.  He exhibits the utmost professionalism and enjoys excellent relationships with both colleagues and the community. He has proven time and time again how he can be an asset to an organization along with exhibiting a strong characteristic of communication between his peers, superiors and the community.

Chandra Dean- aldine family hope center

By hearing the stories of individual’s like you (Dale Ray), the teens are encouraged to persevere and to have more consideration for their current and future decisions.  Through you speaking on your own life choices and consequences and your perseverance, you allowed our students to be encouraged and to see that while choices are important, mistakes do not mark the end.  Time is truly one of the best things to offer someone, in my opinion.  Thank you for communicating to my students that they are valued by sharing your story and time.

jennifer n. herring msw- Harris county sheriff’s office

Mr. Smith works as a part of our volunteer team at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Reentry program where he mentors the men in the jail.  Mr. Smith is truly an overcomer.  He has surmounted tremendous obstacles and has triumphed in beating addiction, incarceration and other numerous obstacles.  I’ve noticed leadership skills, professionalism and tremendous tenacity.  He has tapped into his special gift for working with this critical population.  After watching him invoke change in the lives of these inmates, I recommended him as a mentor on our team.  He is committed to this population.  Because he has “been there and done that” he can develop a rapport with these men that most people cannot.  I find that humility and his exuberant personality allow him access to any situation.  I appreciate his unwavering commitment to assist underserved populations and those from oppressed backgrounds, through volunteering with this program.  He has a genuine love for these men and knowledgeable characteristics.  In addition, he is ambitious, respectful, dedicated, well-liked and a respected leader among his peers.  His tenacity and commitment warrants this letter of recommendation.

Travis T Bryant- Kenswick Meadow Community member

The first face we saw when we moved into the neighborhood was Dale Ray.  Dale Ray came to our house, greeted us, gave us his number and stated that if we needed anything to inform him.  Since that day, we have seen Dale Ray patrol the neighborhood, greet the neighborhood, set up residents in need with the food bank, help the youth by explaining the consequences of wrong doing and help cleanup trash on the streets.  Dale Ray has helped us all by keeping in close contact with us all and checking in on us.

deputy jonathan ali- Harris county constable’s office pct 4

I work with Mr. Smith in keeping the neighborhood of Kenswick Meadows safe.  Mr. Smith is the neighborhood watch coordinator of the neighborhood he lives in at Kenswick Meadows.  His character has demonstrated to me that he cares about his community and those that live within it.  I have met some of the residents of Kenswick Meadows and all agree that Mr. Smith is the go to man.  Mr. Smith has built a rapport with his community which has allowed law enforcement in the area to work hand in hand in stopping and preventing crimes.  Mr. Smith is a compassionate man with good morals and will be an asset to any organization.

maria leticia soliz- Daniel soliz’s mother

Mr. Dale Ray has been an inspiration to me and my family, especially my son, Daniel.  My son needed help, and Dale Ray helped us. He is a motivational mentor, an inspirational counselor and a man of Christ.  We prayed, and finally after complete exhaustion, he asked for my son to move into his home. While Daniel was living with Dale Ray and Cheryl, my son made a remarkable change.  He was on task, sober, and I had my normal sweet son again.  The transformation was amazing.  I was able to sleep again and not worry.  Thank you, Dale Ray, for your help.  Eventually, Daniel moved home and Daniel did well.  Sadly to say, Daniel moved away from home, and he died on August 27th 2019.  I will never forget what Dale Ray did for my son and me,  and I highly recommend him.  When my son died, I asked Dale Ray if he would do the eulogy for my son.  They had a father and son relationship.  Dale Ray was a great example for Daniel and I will never forget his kindness for me and my family. Once again, I thank you Dale Ray from the bottom of my heart and your kindness will never be forgotten.

jacobie ray perry- kenswick meadow community member

Dale Ray is very active in his community.  We walked the streets of the neighborhood and everyone that we saw knew and respected Dale Ray.  He is concerned with the criminal activity in the neighborhood and wants his neighborhood to be a safe place for all residents.  During our meeting I never once heard Dale Rays say “I”, it was always “us” or “we” with Dale Ray.  I have observed his commitment and passion for helping others.  He inspires me every time we talk.  It is a pleasure to know Dale Ray and I offer my recommendation and reference on his behalf.
